Citizens Advice Rural Cambs (CARC) is an independent charity supporting residents in Fenland, and Huntingdonshire providing free independent, confidential and impartial advice. Our aim is to provide the advice people need for the problems they face and to improve the policies and practices that affect people’s lives.

Community Energy  Adviser

Hours Full time (37 hours FTE) and part time hours available
Location Fenland – based in Wisbech (with travel to meetings at offices/locations as required)
Salary £25,762.36 – £29,225.56 per annum (pro-rata), depending on experience)

About the project/role Citizens Advice Rural Cambs receives funding for this project through the Energy Industry Voluntary Redress Scheme. We are looking for a passionate and community-focused Energy Adviser to support residents primarily across Fenland and offering cover to support residents of East Cambridgeshire & Huntingdonshire.  

About the Project This project delivers a community‑based, face‑to‑face energy advice service, providing in‑person support within local community settings to reachvulnerable households living in rural areas  The goal is to reduce energy costs, improve home comfort, and lower carbon emissions. As an adviser, you’ll work directly with local communities to deliver measurable social, economic, and environmental benefits, empowering residents to manage energy challenges sustainably and effectively. 

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide tailored energy advice in accessible community spaces and client homes.
  • Help households manage energy use to build financial resilience.
  • Promote sustainable practices and energy efficiency.
  • Strengthen community ties and ensure equitable access to support.

About the role/project We are looking for an experienced and motivated Community Advice Lead to supervise and support a team of advisers delivering high-quality advice services across rural Cambridgeshire. 

You will lead a team who are providing advice on issues including benefits, debt, housing, employment, and income maximisation, ensuring services are accessible, effective, and responsive to local communities. 

Working closely with the Operations Manager and wider teams, you will play a key role in maintaining quality standards, supporting staff development, and driving service improvement.

About the role/project We are looking for a Community Adviser to provide high-quality, confidential advice to people across rural Cambridgeshire. 

This varied role is based both within our offices and out in the community, delivering advice from outreach settings such as community hubs and foodbanks, as well as via face-to-face appointments, phone, email, and web chat. You’ll support clients on issues including benefits, debt, housing, and employment, helping them understand their options and take practical steps forward. 

We are looking for someone with strong communication skills, experience supporting people with complex needs, and a commitment to delivering accessible, high-quality advice.

About the role/project We are looking for a highly organised HR Administration Officer to support the effective running of Citizens Advice Rural Cambridgeshire. 

This role combines HR and administrative responsibilities, supporting staff, volunteers, and trustees through efficient processes and strong systems. You will play a key part in maintaining a positive, inclusive, and professional working environment, assisting with recruitment, HR records, onboarding, and organisational administration. 

Working closely with the Operations Manager and Senior Leadership Team, you will help ensure smooth day-to-day operations and contribute to delivering high-quality services to our communities.
